An outdated exterior entry door and lack of proper stair support can affect both security and safety, especially during harsh weather conditions and daily use. For this project in New York Mills, NY, the existing setup needed a more durable, energy-efficient entry system along with a secure handrail to improve accessibility and overall curb appeal.

We upgraded the entryway by removing and disposing of the old exterior and storm door, preparing the rough opening, and installing a new MMI DOOR 32-in x 80-in fiberglass half-lite right-hand outswing prehung front door with brickmould, insulating core, and decorative grilles. To improve energy efficiency and create an airtight seal, the frame was insulated with spray foam before completing the installation with new trim casing and lockset hardware. We also installed a VEVOR 3-foot iron stair handrail, floor-mounted and securely anchored to provide stable support for the exterior steps.

The completed upgrade delivered a safer, more secure, and visually polished entrance for the home. The durable fiberglass exterior door now offers smoother operation, improved insulation, and enhanced curb appeal, while the sturdy black arched stair handrail adds both functionality and safety for everyday use in all seasons.

A common issue in many homes is interior doors that no longer close properly, have poor alignment, or lack proper hardware, leading to reduced privacy, noise transfer, and overall inconvenience. In this project in New Hartford, NY, the existing door opening required a full upgrade to ensure proper fit, smooth operation, and a clean, finished appearance suitable for everyday use.

We resolved the issue by professionally installing a customer-provided 30” x 80” solid core pine 6-panel interior door, configured as an inswing left-hand setup. The door was fitted with brushed nickel hinges and a lever handle for durability and a modern finish. We also performed precise carpentry work by cutting and installing the door handle, boring the latch opening with proper offset, and mortising the strike plate into the frame to ensure secure closure and flawless alignment.

To complete the project, the door was prepared and treated using a pre-stain wood conditioner, then finished with a dark stain to match the requested look, followed by three coats of satin polyurethane for durability and protection. The result is a solid, well-aligned interior door that operates smoothly, enhances the room’s appearance, and provides long-lasting functionality and visual appeal.
