Attic Insulation - Attic Insulation & Air Sealing Solutions | Energy Efficiency, Comfort & Moisture Control

Many homeowners experience hidden attic problems that significantly impact comfort, energy efficiency, and overall home performance. Common issues include air leakage, insufficient insulation, poor ventilation, and in some cases, pest activity that compromises insulation quality.

Air leakage is one of the most common concerns, often caused by unsealed gaps around light fixtures, plumbing and electrical penetrations, bath fans, and attic chases. These openings allow conditioned air to escape while pulling in outside air, creating temperature imbalance, higher energy bills, and conditions that can lead to ice dams during colder months.

Another frequent issue is outdated or damaged insulation, especially older fiberglass that becomes compressed, ineffective, or unevenly installed over time. Ventilation problems, such as blocked or improperly placed vents, can also trap moisture in the attic, reducing insulation performance and increasing the risk of mold or structural concerns. In some cases, rodent or bat intrusion further damages insulation and creates contamination.

A proper solution requires a full-system attic approach. This begins with the removal of existing insulation to fully expose problem areas, followed by detailed air sealing to close hidden leaks and thermal bypasses. Advanced diagnostic tools like infrared imaging may be used to identify areas of heat loss and air movement for more precise sealing.

Once sealed, the attic is upgraded with high-performance TruSoft cellulose insulation, designed to provide consistent coverage, improved thermal resistance, and better overall efficiency compared to traditional materials. Insulation removal is performed using high-powered vacuum systems to ensure a clean and controlled process.

Additional improvements may include insulated catwalks or raised decking for safe attic access and storage without compressing insulation. For homes with HVAC ductwork in the attic, sealing and insulating ducts with spray foam further enhances system efficiency and reduces energy loss.

The result is a properly sealed, insulated, and ventilated attic system that improves year-round comfort, lowers energy consumption, and helps maintain more stable indoor temperatures.
